Toddler learning crafts are a fun and "crafty" way you can teach them new things. Kids crafts can cover basic learning like colors, shapes, the five senses and more. You can also have fun learning about animals, flowers and trees, the 4 seasons and more. The ideas are endless when it comes to learning and having fun. Many items your kids make can even be used for additional toddler activities that further enhance their minds and the knowledge they absorb. Take for instance a simple craft idea like making binoculars.
This can be made with simple cardboard tubes like a toilet paper roll. This would show them all about the circle shape. Have them decorate it with many colors so that they also are introduced to the different colors. When they are done with their binoculars they can take them outside and see the world through their new binoculars. This helps them learn all about the sense of sight. So with one simple, inexpensive and easy project they are learning many different basic skills.
The learning ideas do not stop with just this simple idea. Try making many different animal crafts and talk about each one. They can learn about where animals come from, what color they are and what shape they look like. They can even make masks of their favorite animal and pretend to be a lion or elephant or even a cute kitten. Plan a trip to the zoo as an additional activity and have them identify the different animals they know and recognize.
Perhaps some flowers for a crafty idea for spring or summer. Or a snowman or sled for winter. You can even have them make a wreath with fall leafs or a scarecrow. All these ideas are a fun way for toddlers to understand the different seasons and the colors with each season. Calendars always make a fun craft at the beginning of each year. Your kids can mark important days, like their birthday, as well as the first day of each season. Have them decorate it with pictures and colors of the season. Remember, mark the holidays and planning for some time and leave you fumbling with your children.
Holidays make the perfect time to introduce new skills and new knowledge toddler. Get your Christmas gifts and decorations, add a task or time to read the story to help your children understand the meaning or Christmas. After a fun craft activities for the large family does not find the time and learning for children. So when your kids are making their stuffed paper bag turkey, have them tell you what they know of the Pilgrims and the "First Thanksgiving". Give them some history of your Thanksgiving growing up and what traditions your family had. Look for coloring pages, worksheets and other fun activities to keep them interested and the knowledge pouring in.
So as you can see, rather it's a holiday, the change of seasons or just a typical day for a child, doing kids crafts is much more than just having fun. It's a great way for little ones to learn something new, develop new skills and create something unique and made just by them. So grab some craft supplies, put on your thinking cap, use your imagination and make something fun - and learn something in the process. Don't forget to add a fun activity as well to put that new craft to good use.
